DRAFT Safe Routes to School Statement

The following statement is in DRAFT form and will be subject to formal adoption during a future Bicycle Pedestrian Commission Meeting.

The Gilroy Bicycle Pedestrian Commission is committed to equitably providing a Safe Routes to School (SRTS) program in our community so that every student has the opportunity to walk and bike to school safely. The core partners that make up the Gilroy SRTS Task Force are Gilroy Bicycle Pedestrian Commission, City of Gilroy Public Works, City of Gilroy Police Department, Gilroy Unified School District, Santa Clara County Public Health Department, Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition, and our dedicated SRTS volunteers. We collaborate to embed SRTS into our community through integration of the 6 E’s: Education, Encouragement, Engineering, Enforcement, Evaluation, and Equity.
