Loma Fire Update 9/28 at Noon
Over 1,000 firefighters from throughout the area are aggressively fighting the Loma Fire which continues to spread in the Loma Chiquita Road and Loma Prieta Road area of the Santa Cruz mountains. The fire is currently burning in the Mt. Loma Prieta, Mt. Chual and Uvas Creek drainages. As of 7:00 a.m., the fire had spread to over 2250 acres with 10% containment.
Due to the increase of Fire Operations, we have a few updates on parks and road closures:
Both sides of Christmas Hill Park are now CLOSED to the public.
The bike and walking trails behind Solarsano Middle School are also closed.
The paved levy trail, next to Uvas Park Drive is open.
Miller Avenue (between W Luchessa Ave and Uvas Dr) is closed to thru traffic.
We will continue to have heavy fire and equipment use on the following roads: Santa Teresa Blvd, Hecker Pass, Club Drive (behind Solarsano), Syrah Ct and Masten Ave. Please use caution in these areas.
We continue to receive inquiries regarding donations to firefighters and evacuation centers. At this time, donations are NOT needed. Residents are kindly asked NOT to bring items to Base Camp or Fire Stations.
