Building, Life, and Environmental Safety

The Building, Life, and Environmental Safety Department (also known as BLES) has a dedicated and professional staff that is here to serve the citizens of Gilroy.

Counter Hours
Building and Fire Prevention Bureau Sections will have limited services available from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM, Monday thru Friday (except holidays and the first and third Fridays of each month). Informational handouts are available, as are application forms. Business License and Special Events will be issued as will other minor miscellaneous items. You may also be able to drop off re-submittal plans if submittal is complete. Permits will not be issued, there will be no plan reviews, and no plan review staff or building code compliance information available until 10:00 AM. This will allow our plan review staff to have uninterrupted time to complete your plan reviews. City staff appreciates your cooperation in this matter. The BLES Phone number is 408-846-0451.
