Housing Element

Local governments are required to prepare and adopt a housing element as part of their general plan. The housing element must include existing and projected housing needs and resources and constraints to address these needs. Goals, policies and scheduled programs for the maintenance, improvement and development of housing must be identified and analyzed in the housing element.

Included on this page is the September 13,2011 draft housing element for the time period of 2007 - 2014. The response letter from the State Housing and Community Development Department dated September 13, 2011 is included. The Public Review draft of the Initial Study and Negative Declaration for the Housing Element and the Notice of Availability and Notice to Adopt the Negative Declaration are included. The Resolution of the city council adoption on February 6, 2012 of the Housing Element as an amendment to the Gilroy 2002-2020 General Plan and Negative Declaration is attached.
