Superior Court Issues Tentative Ruling on City’s Motion for Summary Judgment for Garlic Festival Shooting Lawsuit
Tuesday, November 14, 2023 (Gilroy, CA): On Monday, November 13, 2023, the Superior Court of California for the County of Santa Clara issued a tentative ruling on the City of Gilroy’s motion for summary judgment in the case of Wendy Towner et al. v. Gilroy Garlic Festival Association, Inc. et al. The tentative ruling was to grant the City’s motion, which would have the effect of dismissing the City from the case.
The case was initiated on November 12, 2019, in response to the shooting at the Gilroy Garlic Festival on Sunday, July 28, 2019. The lawsuit involves multiple defendants, including the City of Gilroy.
The court is anticipated to issue its final ruling within the next few weeks.
