Caltrain Electrified Service is anticipated to start in September 2024 and will feature faster travel times, more frequent trains including during weekends, and enhanced onboard amenities such as free Wi-Fi and electrical outlets at every seat.
While there are no changes to service in Gilroy, connecting service will provide faster commute times to final destinations. Please review the Gilroy Fact Sheet to see the proposed improvements to your current schedule.
Caltrain Electric Train Testing
Starting in mid-March, Caltrain will begin testing their new electric trains between San Mateo and San Jose. In April, Caltrain will expand electric train testing to cover the entire corridor from San Francisco to San Jose. These tests mark a significant step towards modernizing and enhancing rail service for both passengers and the communities that Caltrain serves. To minimize disruption to regular service, testing will be conducted during weeknights night between 9 p.m. and 4 a.m. Residents may hear additional noise during testing hours, including grade crossing activations and train horns.
