The National Weather Service has issued an excessive heat warning for our area. Peak temperatures are expected to be in the 100s tomorrow, July 2, through Saturday, July 6 and in the high 90s on Sunday, July 7 through Wednesday, July 10.
In addition, a red flag warning has been issued for areas west of Gilroy from July 1 through Saturday, July 6, at 9:00 PM.
Residents and visitors are encouraged to follow hot weather safety tips and red flag warning safety tips including:
‼️ Never leave people or pets in vehicles
‼️ Limit outdoor activities during the afternoon and evening
‼️ Stay hydrated and take cooling breaks
‼️ Prevent fires by avoiding trimming of dry grass, avoiding the use of equipment that could cause sparks, and making sure that cigarette butts and campfires are properly extinguished

❄️ Friday 7/5: Gilroy Library from 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM AND Gilroy Senior Center from 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM
❄️ ️Saturday 7/6: Gilroy Library from 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM AND Gilroy Senior Center from 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM
❄️ ️Sunday 7/7: Gilroy Library from 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM
❄️ ️Monday 7/8: Gilroy Library from 1:00 PM – 9:00 PM
❄️ ️Tuesday 7/9: Gilroy Library from 1:00 PM – 9:00 PM
VTA will be providing free rides to cooling centers through Tuesday.
