The new electric Caltrain schedule starts on September 21, providing faster, cleaner, and quieter service between the San Jose Diridon Station and the South San Francisco Station. This means that Gilroy passengers traveling between Gilroy and San Francisco will save up to 20 minutes each way with the new electric service.
To celebrate the new service, Caltrain is hosting an Electric Service Launch Party with community celebrations at the Palo Alto and San Mateo stations on Saturday, September 21, and Sunday, September 22.
Free Caltrain rides will be provided on Saturday, September 21. Our City of Gilroy team will host a table with food and prizes at the Gilroy Transit Center from 11:30 AM until the train departs at 12:26 PM.
Upon departure, the train will make all stops to San Jose Diridon, where riders can transfer to an electric train, allowing South Santa Clara County residents to arrive at Palo Alto Station in time for the 2:00 PM event. For the return trip, the southbound train to Gilroy will leave San Jose Station at 5:56 PM. Attendees planning to take that train should board train #636, departing Palo Alto Station at 5:15 PM, to make the connection in San Jose.
