[ARCHIVED] Important Public Health Update for Gilroy Residents: Mosquito Prevention

The County of Santa Clara Vector Control District has detected the Aedes aegypti mosquito in Gilroy, a species capable of transmitting serious diseases like dengue, Zika, and yellow fever. To protect public health, a wide area larvicide spraying (WALS) treatment will be conducted in the area of West 10th Street to prevent the mosquito population from spreading.

๐Ÿ—“๏ธ Treatment Date: Saturday, Sept. 28, 7:30 AM

๐Ÿ“ Location: West 10th Street, Gilroy

This treatment will target mosquito larvae in stagnant water before they become adults. Residents in the treatment area are urged to stay indoors and keep pets indoors while treatment trucks are passing to minimize exposure to the larvicides. Santa Clara County will mail notifications directly to properties within the treatment area to notify them of the treatment.

El Distrito de Control de Vectores del Condado de Santa Clara ha detectado el mosquito Aedes aegypti en Gilroy, una especie capaz de transmitir enfermedades graves como el dengue, Zika y fiebre amarilla. Para proteger la salud pública, se llevará a cabo un tratamiento de pulverización de larvicida en una amplia área (WALS) en la zona de West 10th Street para evitar que la población de mosquitos se propague.
