City of Gilroy to Host Gourmet Alley Ribbon Cutting Event with Community Partners

Thursday, October 31, 2024 (Gilroy, CA): The City of Gilroy is excited to announce the upcoming ribbon-cutting ceremony for the recently completed Gourmet Alley Project. We are proud to have accomplished this significant downtown improvement and look forward to celebrating its completion with our community. We invite you to join us on November 8 to mark this milestone alongside event partners—the Gilroy Downtown Business Association, Visit Gilroy, and the Gilroy Chamber of Commerce—who are supporting this special event.

“We’re thrilled to unveil the completed Gourmet Alley Project, a vital enhancement that brings pedestrian-only space and new life to the heart of our downtown,” said Mayor Blankley. “This project is a testament to our city’s commitment to creating safe, welcoming spaces where residents and visitors can connect, relax, and enjoy all that Gilroy has to offer. We’re grateful for the support of our community and our partners as we celebrate this milestone together. Gourmet Alley will serve as a beautiful, functional space that supports our local businesses and strengthens the fabric of our community.”

The ribbon cutting ceremony will begin at 9:00 AM on Gourmet Alley, located between 5th and 6th Streets in Downtown Gilroy. Speakers at the ceremony include Gilroy Mayor Pro Tempore Carol Marques, Caltrans External Affairs Deputy Cheryl Chambers, and Gilroy City Administrator Jimmy Forbis.

The festivities continue at 5:00 PM with the Downtown Business Expo. This evening event will feature a variety of local downtown businesses along Gourmet Alley, offering a chance to sample products, connect with community members, and enjoy our revitalized alleyway.
