Police Investigating Homicide in the Area of Murray Avenue and Las Animas Avenue
Saturday, October 20, 2021 (Gilroy, CA): On Saturday, October 30, 2021, at approximately 12:55 a.m., Gilroy Police received a 9-1-1 call of a shooting on the 400 block of Las Animas Avenue in Gilroy. When officers arrived on the scene, they encountered a large outdoor party at the residence. Officers learned that an altercation occurred just prior to their arrival, and at least one suspect fired a gun. Officers determined there were a total of four shooting victims during the altercation. One male victim was pronounced deceased at the scene, while the other victims were transported to local hospitals, two with life-threatening injuries. The location of the altercation was determined to be the residence of Gilroy City Council Member Rebeca Armendariz.
This incident is being actively investigated by the Gilroy Police Department’s Investigations Bureau and Crime Scene Investigations.
