Are you planning a garage sale this year? Great news! You can host one garage sale each year in addition to participating in the Citywide Garage Sale, which takes place annually in the fall. Garage sale items should focus on the sale of personal property that has been owned by the property owner for at least one year prior to the sale.
Getting a License: You need a license to host a garage sale. It's easy to get and shows your sale's location and dates. The online application can be found here: https://www.cityofgilroy.org/842/Finance-Forms.
Signs, Signs, Everywhere a Sign: You can put up to four signs on YOUR property to advertise your sale. But remember, they can't be bigger than 16 square feet in total.
No Public Property: It is not permitted to put signs on public property like light poles, trees, or sidewalks. Please keep all signs on your property.
Clean Up Time: Once your sale is over, please take down your signs. It keeps our community looking neat and tidy.
