Did you know? Property owners are responsible for maintaining the area between their property line and the street — including sidewalks, gutters, curbs, and park strips (City Code Sections 12.46 & 12.47).
That means property owners should:
- Remove overgrown weeds
- Trim back plants encroaching into sidewalks or the street
- Clear dead vegetation that could become fuel for fire
To help, Recology customers can schedule a free pickup for up to twelve 32-gallon bags of waste, twice per year. Call Recology at (408) 842-3358 to schedule.
These simple steps make our community safer, cleaner, and more fire-resilient.
Failure to maintain these areas may result in enforcement action or citation.
Help us keep Gilroy beautiful and safe — one property at a time.
