This morning, a tragic collision involving a pedestrian and a vehicle occurred near Las Animas Elementary during school drop-off. The Gilroy Fire and Police Departments responded immediately and provided life-saving efforts. Sadly, one man has passed away, and a woman remains in serious condition.
“I want to share our deep sorrow at the tragedy that happened this morning during school drop-off at Las Animas Elementary. Our thoughts and prayers are with all those affected. To those who are suffering, you are not alone. Please reach out for help. Our community stands by you.” shared Mayor Greg Bozzo.
Gilroy Unified School District is providing on-site counseling services to students, families, and staff at affected schools.
