High temperatures are expected in Gilroy today, April 7, 2022.
Protect yourselves and your loved ones from the impacts of heat risk, which can include heatstroke, heat exhaustion, heat cramps, sunburn, rash, and other serious conditions.
The Gilroy Library, located at 350 W. 6th Street, will be open as a cooling center today from 10 AM – 6 PM.
We encourage you to take necessary precautions to avoid overheating including:
☀️ Drinking plenty of water and fluids with electrolytes even if you do not feel thirsty.
☀️ Limiting physical activity during peak heat hours of 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
☀️ Never leave children and / or pets in a parked car.
☀️ Wearing light colored, loose fitting, or lightweight clothing
☀️ Checking on your family, friends and neighbors who may be more vulnerable to heat impacts.
