[ARCHIVED] Red Flag Warnings

RedFlag

Red Flag Warnings are issued in times of heightened fire danger. When a Red Flag Warning is issued, residents are urged to take extra precautions to prevent wildfires and have a pre-evacuation plan ready.

2022 continues to be an incredibly dry year and the danger of wildfire and a fast traveling wildfire is a very real concern for our area.

At the onset or possible onset of critical weather and dry conditions which may result in extreme fire behavior, the Gilroy Fire Department will issue a Red Flag Warning. Extreme caution is urged by all residents during these times because a simple spark could cause a major wildfire.

When a Red Flag Warning is issued, red flags will be flown at each of the Gilroy fire stations to alert the community. In addition, alerts will be sent out on Nixle, posted to the City website, and shared on social media. To sign up for Nixle, visit nixle.com.
