Are you ready for the storm? The National Weather Service is forecasting heavy rain, high winds, and a possible flood watch for our area starting this evening, Tuesday, January 3, 2023, and lasting through Thursday.
With this storm, Gilroy may experience localized flooding, downed trees, and the continued closure of Silva’s Crossing, located at Uvas Creek near the intersection of Miller Avenue and Uvas Park Drive.
Sand and sandbags are available outside the gate of the Gilroy Corporation Yard, located at 613 Old Gilroy Street. Residents are advised to bring their shovels and a friend to assist. Additional sandbag locations can be found at valleywater.org/sandbags.
To report downed trees or localized flooding on City streets, please call the Gilroy Police Department non-emergency number at 408-846-0350.
To report local creek blockages and flooding, please call Valley Water at 408-630-2378.

To report downed power lines, leave the area immediately and call 9-1-1. Then call PG&E at 1-800-743-5000.
Warming Centers and Overnight Sheltering Resources
Santa Clara County is operating several warming centers throughout the storm including the:
Gilroy Library, located at 350 W 6th Street | Open Wednesday from 1 PM – 9 PM and Thursday from 10 AM - 6 PM
Morgan Hill Library, located at 660 W Main Ave | Open Wednesday from 12 PM – 9 PM and Thursday from 10 AM – 6 PM

VTA is offering free rides to warming centers. No proof required. Please let bus drivers know that you are going to or coming from a warming center. For more information, go to www.vta.org.
Overnight sheltering may be available at the South County Armory through HomeFirst. Call 408-539-2105 for help or to direct someone in need of assistance.
