The Recreation Office is located at the Gilroy Senior Center, 7371 Hanna Street (mailing address remains 7351 Rosanna Street). Offices hours are Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Picnic and field reservations at city parks are available. You can make a picnic reservation online and click on "Picnic Rental." If you have questions or would like to reserve a field, contact the Recreation office by email Recreation or call at  408-846-0460.

The Christopher High School Aquatics Center (850 Day Road) will be open for recreation swim starting Saturday, May 23. For more information about swim lessons, programs, and private party rentals, visit the website, https://gilroy.theswimmingswan.com/ or call (408) 846-0263.

Food Resources

The Recreation Division is assisting with FREE food distribution at the following locations:

  • Lunch for Seniors - Monday through Friday at 11:30am at the Gilroy Senior Center, 7371 Hanna Street. Provided by the Mt. Madonna YMCA and Santa Clara County.
  • Second Harvest Food Bank Brown Bag Drive-thru Program on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month from 9:00 to 10:00am at the Gilroy Library, 350 W 6th Street.
  • Free Groceries at San Ysidro Park through Second Harvest Food Bank on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month from 4:00 to 6:00pm. San Ysidro Park is located at 7700 Murray Avenue.

Needs Assessment 

To optimize the delivery of recreation services, the City hired PROS Consulting in fall 2019 for the development of a Facility and Program Needs Assessment. With support from the Mt. Madonna YMCA for the community survey, this Assessment included a robust community engagement process and market research to identify current and future resident needs related to recreation programs and facilities.  The research is used in tandem with industry knowledge and an internal assessment to determine strategic priorities for advancing the Recreation Division’s operations and increasing access to quality recreation in the City.
